The newspaper seller

buying a newspaper

You’ll see these guys selling newspapers at all of the major junctions in downtown Kigali. They wear an official blue waistcoat signifying they are licensed to sell newspapers. Having said that, you do have to watch out when you buy – some of the newspapers on sale are not that day’s edition. One seller has even tried to palm me off with a month old edition of The New Times. Most papers cost around 500Rwf Not all newspapers are printed on a daily basis. Not surprising, there doesn’t appear to be much advertising in the papers I’ve looked at and I’m told there is only one printing press in town. It can’t be easy making cash from news in Rwanda. Pretty much like everywhere else then.
